RikFit Top Tips To Achieving Your Goal

Today I’ve decided to write you a blog on some of the top tips I believe to be most valuable when pursuing most health & fitness goals. I’ve decided to take things back to basics on this blog post as I am becoming increasingly aware of the majority of individuals seeming to be stuck in limbo and confused in what they must do to achieve their set goals. Everyone is looking for a special supplement or workout or diet plan that will transform them in weeks and will be super easy in the process. Well I’m sorry to say this but there isn’t one…
I used to believe that there was a secret in the background getting these individuals into amazing shape in such a short amount of time, but apart from “steroids” and photo-shop, I can’t think of anything else that could be used or done to get someone into the fitness model style shape, that is apart from seriously hard and SMART nutrition, training, psychology and recovery programming.
I know this may be hard for some of you to come to terms with as I remember when I first came to terms with the fact there is no secret, but coming to terms with this fact helped me discover whether I truly wanted to carry on towards my performance and physique goals, so before we go any further, ask yourself “am I truly willing to put in the time and effort to achieve my goals?”. If so then you most certainly must have a desire coming from deep within you that will motivate you night and day to achieve your set goal.

TIP NUMBER 1: Decide Your Goal

This brings me onto my first tip, you must truly want to achieve your goal. You can’t be in two minds about your goal, you must sit down and think what it is EXACTLY you want to achieve, then you must decide whether your actually willing to put the effort in to achieve it. A goal as I said before must come from deep within, it must be personal and specific to YOU, not just a generic goal that most of your friends are working towards.

The best advice on goal setting I can give you is to set a SMART goal. Some of you may have learned this method in school, college or at work, it’s extremely simple but very effective. Your goal must be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and within a set Time. I’m not going to babble on about SMART goals but here’s just a generic link that explains this method in a very basic manor.

TIP NUMBER 2: Invest In A Coach

INVEST IN A COACH! Now that you’ve decided what your goal is and if you want to actually pursue it, seek out guidance and help to make things much easier. I’m not just saying this because I’m a coach and your reading this through the RikFit website, I’m saying this because it is something I really do believe to be one of, if not the best way to achieving your set goals. You will truly be amazed at how much the process to achieving your goal can be speeded up through avoiding all the simple mistakes you would most likely make going at it on your own.

With a coach you cut out all the guessing work, you are not setting the program or method therefore you don’t second guess yourself every step of the way. I’ve spent years having to learn the hard way making numerous nutrition and training mistakes, often going a good 10 steps forward and achieving my goals but then 8 steps back due to the fact I made the wrong decisions along the way, therefore the goal wasn’t sustainable. Sure learning from your mistakes is great, however why learn from your own mistakes when you can learn from others?

Just make sure that you are investing in a good coach that will truly put in the time and effort to help you in the best way they possibly can. Don’t be choosing a generic coach giving out generic training programs just because they are cheap and more affordable. You must invest in order to develop and grow, as well as any program designed must be specific to you and your wants/needs, if this isn’t taken into account then your chances of achieving your goal is dramatically reduced.

Again here is a link to a group of coaches that I would personally recommend due to their specificity, expertise and community.

TIP NUMBER 3: Focus On What Is Appropriate For You

If you want to achieve your goal you can no longer be focusing on whats “good” or whats “bad” for you, instead you need to decide on what is “appropriate” for you in your current situation. When you start labelling things good or bad, you immediately create negative habits and behaviour patterns in your lifestyle.

This can occur in any daily situation, especially with food, for example, you may label ice cream as bad for you but depending on your situation determines whether it is appropriate or not. If you have a large amount of muscle mass, very low body fat, train very intense 5 times a week and have recently been struggling to hit a baseline calorie requirement because you have a long working hour job and are only eating natural food sources, then a high calorie food such as ice cream a couple of times a week may be your best answer in order for you to replenish your energy levels, carb stores and regulate your bodily function back to normal. Therefore ice cream, usually perceived as a “bad” food is no longer bad, it’s appropriate.

Now as I mentioned this can occur in many daily situations and is probably a well built in habit in the majority of us. Just start to be more mindful of your choices and do what is appropriate for you to achieve you goal. If you do not know what is appropriate then go back to tip number to and get a coach, whether is a lifestyle coach, nutrition coach, personal trainer etc… If you don’t know what’s appropriate then you need guidance, which as I just mentioned is best found in a coach or mentor within a specialised area or field.

Summary

To summarise I know these probably aren’t the answers you wanted to see but I can honestly say in my opinion and from my past experiences, I would be way ahead of where I am at this current point if I would of followed them 3 tips 3 years ago.

As I’ve said before, why learn from your own mistakes when you can learn from the mistakes of other.

What should you get going away from this blog? Well hopefully a sense of guidance knowing what you must do now to help you on your way to achieving your goals in the best and fastest way possible.
